Daring and brave guests must take a perilous journey through a darkened asylum for the criminally insane, in which the inmates have broken free. Filled with dark corridors, intense gore and rampaging psychopaths, guests will have to use all their mental and physical abilities to escape the asylum, before they become permanent residents themselves.
“Renowned around the world as horrifyingly immersive experiences, the Madame Tussauds scare attractions are designed to stir up people’s deepest and darkest fears through the use of live performers, state-of-the-art visual and sound effects: all set inside a chillingly authentic setting.” said Bret Pidgeon, General Manager of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong and Shanghai.
“While SCREAM follows Madame Tussauds scare tradition of inspiring terror and fear amongst its visitors, it also has a unique and rich storyline about an abandoned asylum filled with criminally insane inmates. We expected it would scare our guests out of their wits, and it did!”
First introduced at Madame Tussauds London in 2003 and known as The Chamber Live!, a Madame Tussauds’ scare attraction can also be found at Madame Tussauds New York, Amsterdam, Las Vegas and Shanghai, each of them are themed differently to the suit the local flavour.
Local celebrity Ella Koon braved the launch, making a celebrity guest appearance at the attraction, at which she said she has never screamed so loudly.
Hong Kong’s most popular DJs, Sammy and Kitty from Commercial Radio 2, acted a little cooler while hosting the event, though the sweat on their brows and their shaky voices gave their fear away to on-lookers.
SCREAM opens from 10am to 10pm daily. Entry to the new attraction is included in the Madame Tussauds entry fee.
But beware – this is not for the faint-hearted!
