Swire Hotels partners with FLY greener offering carbon offsets to Marco Polo Club members

From 1 June 2011, Marco Polo Club members travelling on a Cathay Pacific or Dragonair flight and staying at a Swire Hotels property will be able to offset the carbon emissions from their inbound journey. This benefit will begin with The Opposite House in Beijing and The Upper House in Hong Kong.

Extra screenings for "All for One and One for All: Union Film" at HK Film Archive

In view of the enthusiastic response to the Hong Kong Film Archive (HKFA) retrospective "All for One and One for All: Union Film", which showcases the full catalogue of 44 films by Union Film Enterprise, 12 additional screenings will be held from June 3 to 26 at the HKFA's Cinema.

Outdoor concerts "Music on the Wave" at Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza

A sequence of outdoor concerts titled "Music on the Wave" will be staged at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza this weekend (October 30 and 31) from 4.30pm to 7.30pm. The concerts will feature the icon of crossover music, Mr Wu Tong and his Ensemble, post-80s band JAM from Xinjiang and renowned local a cappella group Gay Singers. Admission is free.

Hong Kong Government Mobile Application

From now on, when you want to report unhealthy trees, road obstructions or similar issues to the Government, all you need to do is to take a photo or a video using your mobile phone and send it to the Call Centre via the "Tell me@1823" app.  The mobile device's global positioning system (GPS) function also makes it easier for the Call Centre to identify the location in relation to the enquiries, reports or complaints.

Lantern carnivals celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department will present a wide range of activities including lantern carnivals, thematic lantern exhibitions and a lantern design competition entries exhibition to celebrate the coming Mid-Autumn Festival. Admission to all activities is free.

Featuring a variety of entertainment programmes, lantern carnivals will be held at Tsing Yi Park on September 21, at Victoria Park on September 22, and at Tai Po Waterfront Park on September 23.

"Islands Nature Heritage Trail" Mui Wo Section opens

Organised by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD), the "Great Outdoors Hong Kong!" hiking event was held on the Islands Nature Heritage Trail on January 9 along with some 1,000 participants.

In collaboration with the Islands District Council, the AFCD has set up the new Islands Nature Heritage Trail to help promote nature-based tourism.  The 20 km trail is divided into four sections: Mui Wo, Peng Chau, Tai O and Ngong Ping.  The Mui Wo Section, 7km in length from Pak Mong in Tung Chung to Mui Wo, is the first to open and takes about 3 hours to complete.

"Israeli Film Festival 2011"- an inspiring cinematic tour begins tonight

Offering an insight on Israel's rich and diverse cultural heritage, the "Israeli Film Festival 2011", opened on January 11 at the Hong Kong Science Museum and will run until January 23.

Nine outstanding films will be screened, covering a wide range of themes and genres including comedy, thriller, melodrama, romance and documentary.
